The growing process begins with hand picked cones from select trees. The cones are checked for particular drying characteristics throughout the summer months. When they reach the ideal consistency they are then hand picked and put through a screening process which seperates the individual seeds from the cones. Seeds are sowed in seedbeds for two years.
Seedlings are then transfered from one seedbed to another where they are spread apart allowing them to form a more complex root system. This whole process takes two years from the time seeds are sowed.
4 Year old seedlings are then planted in fields. (seedlings in forefront of picture)
As the trees mature in the fields they are hand sheered. In the beginning stages tops are trimmed to shape the tree along it's growing process. Hand sheering allows a more precise cut to each induvidual branch, bud and top on the tree. Many process' have been tryed but here at Cree's Trees we have found this method is by far superior to others.
During the cutting process, trees baled and stacked throughout the fields and are hauled out the "old fashion way" by hand onto trailers. This eliminates any damage to the trees by other machinery.
Trees are then brought to the stock yard and sorted according to their variety, grade and height. From here the trees are loaded onto trucks for each individual order and delivered to their final destination.
